I'm not sure I can actually reword this in a way that doesn't smack of bluntness. . . .

so how about you see what a cancer researcher has to say about the lack of enrollement in therapeutic vaccine trials.

Just like every thing else in this current economy, health care is 90% dominated by money. It does not surprise me at all that some doctors are not referring patients to trials that would take money out of their pockets. But you can be sure if it was themselves or a family member they would become part of the trial.

What evidence is there that this is the reason oncologist aren't refering them? That is a pretty serious claim, that PEOPLE who spend their lives helping others are not helping OTHER PEOPLE because of money. I've known many doctors, and they can be incompetent or even cold, but for the most part are good people. So how many oncologist are doing this, and how do we know it is about money? Have we asked them? Were their studies? Criminal investigations?

Also, what dult with cancer relies on their oncologist as the sole source of life or death info? They are just human. With the internet and tens of thousands of other doctors, there is no excuse for not knowing about clinical trials. If someone doesn't even talk to other patients or research the disease, I have no problem with natural selection being against them.

*Two tumors and counting.*

Um isn't that a serious violation of the hippocratic oath - "first, do no harm". Withholdiing information that could help save lives causes severe harm!

Disgusting. Have I ever mentioned that I hate most doctors???

This is totally off topic but I have a request. would you be willing to send me the recipes that you have for Soy-Free desserts?? Cookies and Cakes?? A friend of mine can't digest soy very well and doesn't have many recipes. You wouldn't happen to have one for a red velvet cake would you? He's never had red velvet and had never heard of it in 23 years until last night.

Sure! Most traditional cakes (from scratch, no mixes) are soy-free, just use Spectrum Palm shortening or butter in place of crisco or margarine. Kosher For Passover chocolate chips should be soy-free (read labels), though you'll have to wait another year for those. Here in town, IY stocks EnjoyLifeFoods brand chocolate chips, which are soy-free. I have several memory-marked recipes (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=krasota&keyword=food&filter=all), but most of the desserts are gluten-free and soy-free. Hershey's cocoa powder is soy-free. I like the dutched cocoa best.

I've not made red velvet cake for over fifteen years, but this one (http://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/recs/173/Red__Chocolate__Cake39485.shtml) can be made soy-free with the right sub for the shortening.

The chocolate cake I made this weekend is soy-free (if soy-free mayo is used), as well as gluten-free and nut-free. And everyone ate it quite happily. It turns out dense, like brownies.
