Right now, I hate Habitat for Humanity. Their construction workers are cutting down trees in the small ravine behind my house. A pair of pileated woodpeckers lives back there, among the myriad other birds and wildlife. They're cutting away the trees that line the bank of a small creek. This will contribute to erosion, while the new home materials and new lawns will contribute to the death of the creek.
Boy says it's better they destroy nature in town than outside of city limits, but I think it sucks, period.

Date: 2006-04-03 04:53 pm (UTC)First question:
Why are they building stuff back there? And what street actually goes back there? Isn't that kind of mean to stick a HFH home back in a corner where the people who live there are going to be hard pressed to get anywhere near a bus stop easily? Because I'm pretty sure the families that qualify/end-up-in those homes are going to be the first ones to not be able to pay for gas once the prices get over $3/gallon. Not to mention all the other fun costs of owning a car.
Second question:
Can I use the bulldozer for target practice? I've got a potatoe. And PVC. I can get hairspray.

Date: 2006-04-03 04:58 pm (UTC)The street back there is Paton. The original easement for Paton came through your driveway. The building seems to be along Paton, near Hanover. You turn on Hanover to get back there. All anyone has to do is walk up Hanover to Cherry to get the bus. Or walk down King to 9/10 Street.
