I just went out and spotted Venus. In broad daylight.

Fear me, for my powers are mighty.

Speaking of spotting Venus, I thought of you when I read this horrifying article.

that's both terrifying and intriguing. we wouldn't be seeing the signs all the time--satellites can only reflect the sun within a certain amount of time near sunrise/sunset.

I'm glad that the ads wouldn't be visible all the time. That makes it less horrifying.

I can just picture some unspoiled native tribes out in the middle of the rainforest freaking out, though. Gads.

What time of day was this, and in what part of the sky? If it was 2pm est as your post suggests, I don't think it could be Venus.

not quite 90degrees altitude, in the high SE quadrant. it was venus. venus is sometimes visible during the day, with decent binoculars. i went out a couple hours later and spotted slightly further along its track. ;)

You might have. It's in the eastern sky after sunset, then moves across the sky through the night.
