not quite 90degrees altitude, in the high SE quadrant. it was venus. venus is sometimes visible during the day, with decent binoculars. i went out a couple hours later and spotted slightly further along its track. ;)
that's both terrifying and intriguing. we wouldn't be seeing the signs all the time--satellites can only reflect the sun within a certain amount of time near sunrise/sunset.
