As a test, I shall share the song boy wrote and frequently sings. Since he doesn't know Russian, it doesn't make much sense. Well, it makes sense in that he's silly.
кошка, селёдка, я хочу мороженое
ты смешная
где мой людоед?
ты... ты меня... ты меня любишь.

Date: 2003-06-27 01:53 pm (UTC)I was really curious as to what it said, so I made my boy come in here to translate. He said that it didn't make much sense. ;) I said that that was why I wanted to know what it said. He understood some of it and read that off for me. Then, I realized that there was something way too funny about having someone who speaks broken Russian partially translating nonsensical Russian for me. ;P
Speaking of which, he had a couple of classes in Russian at the Academy (which is how he got his basic Russian skills). Is that where you learned Russian? I brought that up, so he's wondering if you might have had the same teacher (in different years, though).

A translation:
cat, herring, i like ice cream
you're silly (ridiculous)
where's my ogre?
you... you (me)... you love me.

-Oh, cool! I had no idea that you had studied so much Russian. (Actually, I had no idea that you had studied any Russian until you posted about your problems with the characters displaying properly.)

-*lol* That's just... great. ;P
Also, here's the "verdict." I have tried viewing this entry in both Explorer 5.1 and Netscape 7.0, in both OS X and OS 9. In both browsers, it worked fine in OS X; in both browsers, I just got a string of ?s in OS 9.
