My host father in Australia would only drink out of white cups. He didn't like other colors because he hated staining, and he couldn't tell whether they were stained.

That makes sense. Short-tined forks are evil. I don't use them, either.

I'll use a spoon to eat salad before I'll use a short-tined fork.

Can someone reveal the cleaning method...I have many stained tea cups.

Bartender's Friend cleanser. Make it into a paste then rub it gently on the stain. Rinse. Repeat if necessary :). I use it on my fine china all the time to get rid of tea stains. I also use it on my All Clad cookware, and it doesn't scratch. Wonderful stuff!

Of course now we need to apply elbow grease instead of just sticking tea cups in the dish washer. ;)
