twilight_spirit, does your dad have a food grinder? it would be a heavy metal device which attaches to the tabletop (like a vise) and has a hand crank. often used to grind meat or fruit. i left mine in VA and i don't think tom's dad actually has one.
i could also try calling tom's grandma and aunt/uncle.
