Mar. 9th, 2006 02:45 pmJericho and I are sitting outside. Jerry's got a smoked knuckle bone to gnaw on. The feeders have visiting house finches and goldfinches. I hear the chickadee somewhere. The catbird occasionally eyes us up. I'm half hoping the titmouse comes down to steal hair from Jericho.
The boxwood next to me is speaking. It sounds like white noise. Very odd. I hope it doesn't have some sort of bug infestation. Oddly enough, by looking at it, I think I'm hearing the unfurling of new leaves from the bud.
The shadow of a raptor just passed by, the songbirds scattered. I think I'm going to scatter some birdseed on the sidewalk and invite
babyrapture to watch them with me. He's feeling a bit feverish and looks peaked. I think he might like hearing all about the birds today, though. If not, we'll find something else to keep our interest.
It's early March and I can't smell a whiff of snow in the air. I'd love one more snowstorm, but I don't think we're going to get one.
I think I'll start my seeds this week. I need to either replace my light or borrow one for a few weeks. I found quinoa seeds at Whole Foods last night. I can't wait to grow those. Even if I don't harvest them, I bet they'll be eaten up by the birds. I'll plant it near the amaranth.
