dad and i drove to goshen today. well, first we went to Lagrange. Uncle Dan and Aunt Obie were there in Grandma's room at the nursing home. we chatted for a bit, dan and obera left after a half hour or so. dad and i stayed with grandma until we had to leave to pick up her car.
driving to goshen through the middle of amish country always brings me back to home. sure, i grew up in central indiana, but my maternal grandpa's family was amish. my first lullaby was in german. it's a beautiful area, but is quickly becoming heavily developed.
we got to the ford garage, grabbed grandma's car (it was in for repairs and diagnostics). dad tossed me the keys. he headed to pick up some stuff he needed and i went to goodwill.
parking in a goodwill parking lot while driving a spotless 97 crown vic (it's sage green and very noticeable) was quite an experience. everyone stared at me. that's what i get for driving an old lady car 50 years before my time. and, to think, grandma just gave me her 95 buick regal (it has 20k miles on it...)... yes, i'm spoiled... i'm very appreciative, though. i hope that i can someday give back to my parents all that they've given me. all i can really give grandma is love and companionship. i write her letters since i live so far away, but i know she gets lonely.
ah, well. i need to go see great-grandma before she climbs in bed. i also need to figure out what time buffy is on here. it's either 7 or 8... indiana time is so screwy.
