Well, Ronan has already developed stranger anxiety. He's best first thing in the morning, so we went to the Mall yesterday to see Santa (we were still in NJ). He was rather dubious about the whole thing and kept looking up at Santa and fussing. I didn't let him get really upset. He was just confused. I was thrilled with this stoic picture. It's much better than the grimaces the salesladies were trying to steer me toward. Hello! I'm not that kinda mom! I don't think crying pics are funny!

In retrospect, I should've thrown him in the air a few times before handing him to Santa. He'd have still been grinning then.

There is this theory that sometimes crying looks like laughing. Sometimes it is actually true; usually when we edit shoots at the dayjob, we only leave in the ones that are really cute, though, and discreetly put the rest into the virtual dustbin.

That's adorable...Ronan's such a cute little kid! And that's One Great Santa...he looks very kind...like maybe he only does axe-murdering in the Santa off-season. :D

So precious! This will be the photo he can point to when he's older and needs evidence that you traumatized him irreparably ;-P The funny and weird thing is there does exist a photo of me sitting in Santa's lap. Why? I don't know. I was raised Jewish but I guess they found it ironic or something.

Hey I have a question about nursing laying down in bed....more about the mechanics of it. I attempted it the other night but she and I were both exhausted at 3AM (not the time to be trying new stuff)...

when he was smaller and i was constantly engorged, I think I used the "bottom" breast, propping it up with some rolled prefolds or washcloths. i put him on his side, placing a rolled prefold against his back (but not his head). angled his feet toward my belly, so his head was a bit out. and his nose was level with my nipple, so he had to open wide to latch.

had to have extra pillows on hand in case i needed support.

now i use the top breast mostly. just lay it out, somewhat propped on the bottom boob, and let him grab it. ;)

yeah. my wrists got tired. he's only just recently gotten big enough that i don't always have to hold my boobflesh back. i usually do, though.

I see my grandson extraordinaire is doing his best to give his "pouty" face to Mom for leaving him in some stranger's lap. This is just too cute. . . I rank this right up there with the screaming in the car seat. LOL. I printed off the picture for Gr. Grandma and Grandpa. They love it. I went back in later and Dad was just sitting staring at it. I am so glad they got to see him this summer.
