Thanks to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] daq42, all necessary information has been retrieved from the ibook and the hard disk has been b0rked so that it's shiny and as empty as my brain. We didn't want our Quicken information floating out there somewhere.

[livejournal.com profile] ez_mo now has an ACAC membership, so I decided it was time to get back into the water, whether or not my scalp is healed (no, it's not. In fact, it's WORSE than ever.) and so we've been putting our feet in the water. Well, the rest of us, too.

Today, we did the AquaStrength class in the therapy pool. I think the old ladies totally kicked my ass. We were a good 40 years younger than the other participants. On the other hand, I'm more flexible than the "OH MY GOD, you're NOT 50" lithe and impossibly fit instructor. This probably isn't a good thing, but hey--it's fun to be a freak. I had to keep moving to shallow water for any bending exercises, while moving back to deep for the resistance arm/hand weight exercises. I had to skip several of the reps, as certain movements make my muscles and nerves go "COLLAPSE!" And I discovered that a lot of the strength I gained last year in PT has disappeared. I'm going to have to build up my hips/pelvis/abdominal stuff all over again--I knew this was an issue, I've been having issues with walking and such.

Anyhow, I feel accomplished. I think the arthritis range-of-motion class will be more suited to me. Ali wants to try the "go at your own pace" deep water running/jogging/slogging. I can swing that, I think, unless the family pool is too cold for my muscles.

I also feel sore. I was sore before I did this, though. When the instructor told us to quit if anything hurt, everyone said, "We already hurt!", so I helpfully said I'd quit if I hurt *worse* or differently. ;)

The nice thing about our gym is that you can just go in and soak in the hot tub. No need to feel odd if you don't use the bikes or swim. Of course, I always get in the pools, but stretching for a few minutes in the jacuzzi is a good way to alleviate a few trigger point issues in my back and legs.

I need new shoes so that I can do the recumbent bikes again. Those are pretty easy on me and seem to help my hips.

[livejournal.com profile] jericho_the_dog and I went to the dog park and after lots of frisbee fetching, we went over to the playground to play with [livejournal.com profile] ez_mo and the kids. Fun was had, then we came home.

The new Mac should ship whenever Apple receives notice from FedEx that the old one is en route.

The bike is really an amazing thing. When I was young and fit (was I ever fit?) I scoffed at the bike because it was too easy. Now that all of my joints are crap, I appreciate the bike so much more. I bike for half an hour on the days on both sides of a demanding activity (like volleyball practice) and my knees are much happier. The motion seems to keep the fluid moving so none of the crap (pieces of shredded cartilage, really) gets a chance to take up permanent residence in the joint.

I particularly like the bikes that have a chair kind of seat, helps me avoid the bike-seat-butt-pain.

Now if only they made a bike that would help my hands and wrists....

I am glad that you got all your sensitive information off the laptop. Hopefully the new one will get here quickly.

I need to go back to the gym. I've yet to take a class in the large pool at our gym because the water is too cold for me. I like the range of motion class though. I have being out exercised by people 40 years older than me though. I'm glad you have company at the gym though. It's hard for me to get motivated to go by myself.

Trooper says to tell Jericho he is jealous of all the trips to the dog park he takes. We don't have a local dog park. :(

I am currently having my ass kicked by old people in the Aquacize class I'm taking. Doesn't matter, cause I'm so friggin happy to be in a pool.
