Guess what?

LOGIC BOARD FAILURE!

35 Days this time!

Dear Apple,

The threat still stands. Only this time, if I don't get a new ibook, I'm not only writing various Apple executives, I'm writing an article for our local papers. They may be piddly, but not many people know that I am actually capable of writing coherent vitriol, rather than my bloggy blatherings most folks are accustomed to. Stop pissing me off. Make this situation right or I'll not only poop on your head, I'll replace all your toilets with low pressure low flow units that don't fit any standard plungers. And I'll give you a zip-it for a drain snake.

Sincerely, [livejournal.com profile] krasota

P.S. I'm buying an Amiga.

time to invoke the lemon law, eh? You ought to tell them they better send you a whole new computer. 5 times in 10 months is ridiculous, especially after just 35 days. Otherwise I'd be filing a complaint with the FTC.

though the Amiga is a nice thought. I hear they're still being sold, though they are radically outdated these days. Unfortunate, really, cause they were ahead of their time for a while.

"Now, let's talk rust-proofing. These Colecos'll rust up on ya' like *that*, er ... shut up, Gil. Close the deal ... close the deal!"

Actually, you can get PowerPC Amigas now so they aren't that outdated. But I still decided on a Mac earlier this year when I finally gave up on my thirteen year old Amiga 1200.

That's insane. It only took 3 or 4 logic board failures on mine before they gave me a new one, and I didn't even have to ask.

Tell you what, mail the damned thing to me and I'll take it to my apple store in Oak Brook, IL.

Our friend John (jim, jaide, and myself) says to call customer relations and give 'em what-fore.

CR : 800-767-2775

Perhaps you've done this already, but once more won't hurt.

John says "so you call them, pitch a fit, and they'll issue a replacement for your box"

whoa, do you still have the 1200??
We had a 500 for a while, then a 3000 for a long while. Finally gave up on it when we could buy a (better, faster, more secure, less buggy) SGI for cheaper than we could buy an Amiga, hehe.

Yes, I still have the A1200 and it's still switched on under my desk and wired into the KVM switch (which is more than can be said for my Wintel box, which has been off for months). The 1200 is towered and has a Picasso IV graphics card; it's a nice machine. AmigaOS still has the nicest telnet/SSH client I've seen, and I think that Opus is way ahead of Finder or Windows Explorer or whatever, so I still use it sometimes.

I also have an emulated A1200 with all the same software on my Mac Mini. In the end, I guess I'll switch off the real one and rely on this virtual one if I ever need to run Amiga software. But for some reason I am reluctant to turn my Amiga off, disconnect all the wires, and put it away in a cupboard. I loved that computer!

My hubby found Opus for Windoze... there was much rejoicing over here, hehe.
