first, i had to stop wearing most women's underwear (natural rubber latex--NRL--in some elastics and some fabrics)...

then i decided to start wearing more earthy things next to tender parts... glad rags, natracare organic disposable stuff... no more plastic stuff.

now it seems i'm allergic to organic cotton. i'd blamed my monthly irritation/rash on my habit of donning an old pair of undies once or twice during my moonweek. i know the elastic on those irritates my skin, so i've blamed it on that for a couples years...

well, i wore boy's boxer briefs during the two most recent bleeding cycles. if they contain rubber anywhere, it's the waistband (one brand DOES irritate my waist)... the rest is mostly cotton. these are my everyday undies when i bother wearing any at all.

and i'm broken out.

damn damn damn damn damn

i know that organic cotton is less processed and has more of the natural oils in it than regular cotton.

so now i need to find all cotton, non-organic tampons. i can use glad rags for pad time... and i can revert to Always in a pinch (NRL-free)... if i have to.

blah

i know that tampax made a "natural" a few years ago that was 100% cotton, and not organic, but i think they quit makin' 'em. i know i haven't been able to find them for a long time, and i *think* i wrote an email to tampax and got the old *discontinued* letter...but it's been awhile, so may be a figment of my imagination. try your local health food store? trader joe's maybe? they aren't as *strict* as vegan type health food stores. try this link http://www.cottons.com.au/flash.html it doesn't *say* that the products are organic...(the little different colored cotton balls are links for the dif. pages of the site)...at least maybe you could write them? i don't know if they sell internationally...never hurt to try though. good luck!!

thanks. :)

natracare uses organic cotton.

i have a cabinet full of it. and it seems to the be irritating culprit.

oh, wait. i doublechecked. only the tampons are organic. the rest isn't, just chem-free cotton.

shoot, this blows my theory to pieces. the natracare pads *definitely* make me react. the adhesive is NRL-free.

hrm... i wonder if they somehow contain soy? must write.

and i have some seventh gen pantiliners, non-organic, no toxic chems... but i have no clue if they're all cotton or not.
