Yo, [livejournal.com profile] absinthea and [livejournal.com profile] blixa23:

What do I need to have on hand for you folks? What do the boys snack on?

We generally have carrots and tortilla chips on hand. Celery can be had. I have sunflower butter and cream cheese. I can make hummus, onion dip, spinach artichoke dip, etc. There's always popcorn--I live off the stuff.

Will they eat relatively plain cereals or eggs/omelets? I can get Gorilla Munch (like corn pops) or Koala Crisp (cocoa crispies)--or a plain crispy rice cereal. I don't keep much soda in the house, but I have tons of tea and make iced tea on a regular basis (unsweetened, decaf, with honeybush or rooibos). I have half and half and espresso.

I frequently munch on rice + beans inside a corn tortilla. Is that likely to appeal? What about greens? Enchiladas? Vegetarian Chili? I can always make pasta (Tinkyada--it's GF). Do y'all like Indian food?

What are the NO WAY! foods for you folks? I already plan on making Al crank the ube ice cream.

(Don't worry Al, we don't have an ice cream maker . . . or ube.)

We can buy our kids some grub when we come into town so you don't have to. They LOVE those Pamela's GF chocolate swirl shortbread cookies, they love eggs (I have difficulty tolerating eggs but I'm cool with rice cereals). Al and I are cool with most anything veggie. The boys are cool with pasta (veggie pasta ok with them). They also like strawberry yogurt (ALOT) and the elder 2 are popcorn freaks and love fresh apples, bananas and occasioanlly peaches (AJ loves watermelon).

You must show me how to make hummus. My times of trying always turned out disasterously.

Ice water is good for us to drink (plus we need to as A1 and I dehydrate at the drop of a hat).

I love love love Indian food. A1 is not so much of a fan.

Jhonen loves those little sugar wafer cookies. Is it ok to bring him some, or is there gluten enough in them to be problematic to bring into the house? If so, do they make GF ones that I could pick up for him?

Shall we plan for Shenandoah on Thursday? We will have a big ass Lincoln Navigator (seats 8) so if you want to bring people along we can seat 2 more aside from us and you (if Tom comes along, whittle that down to 1 extra).

I am really looking forward to seeing you!!! It is sad that we have never been out there to see you yet.

OK...more later...

Any gluten at all is a problem, unfortunately. How are the thin popcorn cakes for him? I have a friend who lets her toddler gum them to death.

Shen on Thurs works for me. :)

He would probably be fine with popcorn cakes. Are there any fruits you cannot have around? I almost forgot...Al likes bananas, but seems to be allergic to them (he gets a weird mild saxitoxin poisoning-like reaction...very very odd, but then again nobody ever accused him of being normal). The boys love nanners and as long as A1 doesn't put one in his own mouth he is fine.

The only forbidden fruit is papaya. :)

Bananas are fine, even if I can't eat them when my total allergen load is high (they're a cross-reactor with papaya and latex). they won't bother me in the least. I could probably eat them, too, since I've been okay with avocados lately.
