A few days ago, I found myself in need of another book to read. Since the circuit which supplies power to the light in the guest room was off, I started grabbing books of the shelf. Mind you, the "guest" room is more of a jumble (or jungle) room currently, so walking in there in pitch darkness is precarious at best. Most of the box piles reach above my head. None of them are straight. Also, the books aren't on the shelves so much as stuffed into them, with pictures in frames, glass christmas balls, and ceramic odds and ends placed on top.

Needless to say, when my third armful of books netted several Gardeners, Fleming, and Bonds (all of which I've read in the last year), I moved to another shelf and grabbed hold of the small box holding the Chronicles of Narnia. "Cool," I thought. "This should tide me over for at least a week or two of bedtime reading. No such luck. Those books go by in an hour and I read a bit longer than that.

So, here I am, needing to get another book to read. Fortunately, that circuit is now functional. The electrical gnomes are back to their work posts, schlepping power the proper direction and back.

I might talk more about revisiting Narnia later. For now, I'm in need of distraction.

I *thought* I returned those, but it's quite possible they're keeping company with my other books. I know they're yours, so they won't disappear into the bookshelves forever. Need them back soon?

Not at all, I was just going to suggest them as something to read. :) Apparently she's written like three more in the last couple of years - I'm a little scared to read them, though, considering how bad the fourth one was.

Also, there's the Harry Potter book release party at the Tea House tonight. at 12:01, they're going to start selling the brand new "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince". Also, Red Wizard is playing. Good times.

several Gardeners, Fleming, and Bonds

Is that books by Bonds, or books by Fleming about Bond? (Michael Bond wrote books about a bear called Paddington. He also shares me birthday, though not the year.)

I was just in a Bond mode, apparently. I grabbed nothing but books by Ludlum and various books about James Bond (at least three authors).

Spy novels are one of my guilty pleasures.
