ice cream and smoothies

It's summer. Well, the calendar says no, but the thermometer certainly registers in the 80s. I'm wilting in the heat.
So what's better than frosty fruity food? Frosty fruity food in a blender!
I tossed some frozen fruit in the blender--this time it was peaches and blueberries. I added enough coconut milk to see--about a third of a cup, give or take. Adn then I kept blending and pulsing until everything was perfect. Ah, yes, I added a scoop of whey protein powder (stevia sweetened, vanilla flavored) because my doctor thinks I need more protein.
Served in bowls to my husband and a friend who were quite wisely sitting outside in the shade, rather than slaving over a blender.
It has the consistency of softserve ice cream, but it will soften quickly.
After sitting in the heat some more tonight, I decided I wanted more frosty goodness. Wild blueberries, raspeberries, and peaches all came out of the freezer. I used some more coconut milk, added some yogurt (yay! live cultures!) to thin it, decided to toss in a scoop of powder because it's not like I ate anything today (well, other than the curry and dal for dinner).
And now I sit, enjoying the chilly refreshment.
