Two police cruisers pull up. No, it's not a bad joke. There was a 911 call, apparently from our address, but . . . we didn't make it. We'd only been home for ten minutes, too. The police called dispatch, shrugged, and left. I suggested boy check the basement, as there's a phone down there, but he says he locked the door before coming up.

Maybe somebody's stuck down there.

Ah, well.

That happened to us back when we were living in the apartment. Our phone was actually *out* at the time. The wires crossed and gave us fits all the time anyways.

I didn't feel especially safe though that when Chris got out of bed and went upstairs, answered the told and told the police that we didn't call that they just left. I'm glad he didn't have me tied up (um well, oh nevermind) in a bad way ready to murder me only for me to get to the phone and think I was saved except he told the police he didn't call and they left. You know?

Hope you're basement is person free. :)

Do you have a cordless phone? Some models of cordless phones used to have an odd thing on them that caused the phone line to register a 911 call when it either got a power spike or the battery died for good. If there was a power surge or your cordless phone is completely utterly dead, that might be the source of it.
