At 1:45am, there was already a very light dusting on the grass, cars, and neighborhood rooves.
Out of curiousity, I looked up the plural of roof. I spell it the way I learned as a kid, but I see that the proper US spelling is now roofs. That just doesn't seem quite . . . the same. I prefer the texture of rooves.

rooves and roovis are considered archaic plural spellings, but "roofs" just looks weird.
