At 1am, when boy went to sleep, it wasn't snowing yet.

At 1:45am, there was already a very light dusting on the grass, cars, and neighborhood rooves.

Out of curiousity, I looked up the plural of roof. I spell it the way I learned as a kid, but I see that the proper US spelling is now roofs. That just doesn't seem quite . . . the same. I prefer the texture of rooves.

Hmmm....I've never heard anyone say rooves before.

I've only said it as /'ruvz/ or /'rüvz/, no matter how it's spelled.

rooves and roovis are considered archaic plural spellings, but "roofs" just looks weird.

I took a poll at work, and we were about 50/50 on the pronunciation. I didn't ask about the spelling, though...I should.

Hmm... My pluralization vote is for "roofies"

I like rooves. Reindeer hooves land on rooves.
