Cranberry!
Nov. 22nd, 2004 05:48 pmOnce again, I will share the recipe for the family cranberry salad. Perhaps my mother or grandmother can be tempted to warm their hands and type up the recipe for grandma's gingerale salad, for those of you who are more adventurous.
And, someday, I'll type up the recipe my father's grandmother used to make a layered rainbow jello salad.
explodingcat loves it, mostly because it's terrifying.

Date: 2004-11-22 11:06 pm (UTC)You're getting confused. The gingerale salad (grapefruit, pineapple, pecans) was different from the lime jello, mayonnaise, pecans, pineapple and cottage cheese.
You'll get a chance to taste some of these at your Mom's, where I will be sharing my culinary skills. You should be scared since I only cook at Thanksgiving and Christmas!

Date: 2004-11-23 06:44 am (UTC)Lime jello recipe
Date: 2004-11-23 10:39 am (UTC)1 3-oz. lime jello
1 C. hot water
8 oz carton cottage cheese
1 can crushed pineapple, drain, save juice
1/2 C mayonnaise, thin with 1/2 C. milk
Mix hot water with jello. Add pineapple juice.
Allow this to set a little.
Add pineapple, cottage cheese and mayonnaise mixture.
Can add nuts if desired.
And as Grandma said, if you need more, use 2 jellos, more cottage cheese, more mayonnaise, etc., etc. You know Grandmas. There good at adding a bit here, a dab more, etc.
