Once again, I will share the recipe for the family cranberry salad. Perhaps my mother or grandmother can be tempted to warm their hands and type up the recipe for grandma's gingerale salad, for those of you who are more adventurous.

And, someday, I'll type up the recipe my father's grandmother used to make a layered rainbow jello salad. [livejournal.com profile] explodingcat loves it, mostly because it's terrifying.

Absinthea,

You're getting confused. The gingerale salad (grapefruit, pineapple, pecans) was different from the lime jello, mayonnaise, pecans, pineapple and cottage cheese.

You'll get a chance to taste some of these at your Mom's, where I will be sharing my culinary skills. You should be scared since I only cook at Thanksgiving and Christmas!

You can't just tease, mom. You need to share. ;)

I want recipes, woman! If you just want to scan them in and mail them to me, I'll type 'em out.

Definitely having a hankering for lime Jello and cottage cheese with pineapple and shredded carrots. I may have to inflict this on my family on Thursday. [livejournal.com profile] red_frog will be glad for her lactose intolerance, that's for sure!

You know, we still want to see a recipe for the terrifying lime jello and mayo salad. Did you ever actually eat that out of some kind of filial show of affection?

Eat them up, YUM!

That is my all time favorite picture of Bucky, yggdrasil. Reminds me of your favorite song when you were little. Used to lull you to sleep with "Fish heads, fish heads, roly poly fish heads. Fish heads, fish heads, eat 'em up yum." Ah yes, it does bring back memories.

I'm glad my family never got really "creative" with food. The worst annual horror I can think of is that damned green bean casserole, for which I have a bizarre yearning after not having had it for many years.

Lime Jello Cottage Cheese Salad

1 3-oz. lime jello
1 C. hot water
8 oz carton cottage cheese
1 can crushed pineapple, drain, save juice
1/2 C mayonnaise, thin with 1/2 C. milk

Mix hot water with jello. Add pineapple juice.
Allow this to set a little.
Add pineapple, cottage cheese and mayonnaise mixture.
Can add nuts if desired.

And as Grandma said, if you need more, use 2 jellos, more cottage cheese, more mayonnaise, etc., etc. You know Grandmas. There good at adding a bit here, a dab more, etc.
