In a quest for more pain relief, I decided to see what kind of tolerable oil I could find for boy to use when rubbing my feet. Lately, the friction has been too much too bear, so I figured a bit of lubrication would help.
I had pretty nasty cramps the day we went to the store, which isn't always such a good idea . . . hello, impulse buys!
Anyhow, I picked up some apricot kernel oil. I've used it in the past. Like jojoba, olive, sesame, etc, I can't use it on my face or chest. I can generally use it on my legs, feet, and back, just not too often on my back. Anyhow, it's been a few years since I've bought any, so I decided to get some.
I was looking at the EOs, hoping to find something fairly non-noxious. I didn't see any acacia honey at all. I thought about balsam, but remembered that I *do* react to that. Anyhow, Wyndmere has an "aches & pains" blend of clove, birch, rosemary, black pepper, coriander, cypress, and marjoram. Now, I can't use most of those in great amounts, nor can I use them on tender skin, but my feet seem fine. I don't have a headache any worse than before the foot rub and I had much less surface nerve pain than usual. This has worked twice, so we'll keep it up for awhile. 5 drops (not twenty) to an ounce or so seems about the right blend. The recommended amount is very warming, but very strong smelling.
It smells the way ben-gay used to smell, ages ago. It's not a cheap solution, overall, but it's more effective than crying or skipping a footrub altogether.
I'm thinking of massaging some into my head to see if I can help the eczema at all. Of course, what would help the eczema the most is NOT EATING WHEAT. Last night, however, bread was the only thing (other than cheese, which I cannot eat plain) I could eat at the 'skeller and I was hungry. Plus, my tummy was upset, and I couldn't drink my first drink (skip and go naked) nor my second (my beloved Baltika No. 6). I did stop and make a safe salad at WF afterwards, which was probably a good thing.
In other news, saw my brother (
redhairedfrog),
lluk,
praxisloki, and
yurikokinje yesterday. Fun was had, brickskeller was visited, fries were not had by me (they switched to a blend oil GRRRRR), absinthe was drunk (not at the brickskeller), and taco bell was even visited (brandon and i needed fooooood). Anyhow, it was lovely to see everyone.
I've spent today in a haze of pain and allergy fugue, with random extra eczema patches popping up, sometimes accompanied by transient hives. I'm glad I have a wonderful boy, a comfortable couch, and a dim house with plenty of air filters.
