Who's up for a goofy goth outing to see fireworks tonight? I can bring at least one or two blankets, provided someone helps carry them. We could bring small bags of food, too. No alcohol, please, we don't want to get kicked out. But I do mean goofy--the mosquitoes were bad last year, so I think I'll wear a multi-layer black tulle veil. I plan on parking near [livejournal.com profile] jb98's current pad and walking down to McIntyre Park, with the masses of people. It makes crossing 250 much easier when there's a crowd.

The yardwork needs doing, but it's hot and humid out. Blah. I went outside briefly to turn off the hose (left it on last night, but the nozzle was closed) and have spent the last two hours breaking out in wee blister hives (dishydrotic eczema, though... with steroids, it'll go away in a mere 3-5 days) of doom. GRRRRR! Grass pollen is the devil. The other possibility is that the chocolate I bought yesterday is not, in fact, soy-free. The label doesn't list lecithin. Soy is a far more likely culprit than grass pollen, though grass has done it in the past.

I haven't heard from a friend who said she wanted to go earlier in the week, but I'm up for it. What time?

The view from the triangle in front of the house isn't bad, either, although probably not as good as the view from the park.

If anyone's planning on parking there, they should go earlyish. Lots of people do the same thing. :)

Last year, I was able to park even closer around 8 or 8:30 pm. I'm thinking of going earlier tonight, simply to have a picnic dinner.

I like being on the hill. The fireworks seem close enough to touch. :)

It isn't raining like mad down there? We're looking at grey and thundery up in College Park.

I'd go if I could, but SubShock interferes. And the paper said around 9:15ish. :)

Whole Foods' house brand organic chocolate, imported from Switzerland. They have dark and milk. It's pretty good.

In Nellysford, I can buy Valour and Hachez chocolate bars--some of them are soy-free. I buy them at the little market there at the gas station by the Blue Ridge Pig. The Valour 38% milk chocolate with cocoa nibs is wonderful, though the latest batch bought bloomed en route to the market and it's now a bit off. The Hachez dark/bitter chocolate bars are great. Sometimes they carry the pepper/strawberry Hachez bars, too, which are better than they sound. They also had a Lindt bar of dark chocolate, but I generally don't trust Lindt. It was labeled without lecithin, but you never know.

Trader Joe's in Dayton, OH, had two bars of Swiss chocolate (one dark, one white), but I think those were mislabelled, judging by my horrid itchies (hives + an extensive eczema outbreak).

Michel Cluizon is soy-free, but it's expensive and Chocosphere doesn't ship during the warm months.

Otherwise, I have to make my own chocolate bark from baking chocolate.

Grass pollen is the devil.

I hope you had a good Fourth. I opted for staying inside away from the bugs and spring evilness... of DOOM! Ooh, btw, a good horror movie: "The Eye" it's in... um, Cantonize (sp) but it's really well done.

(I saw that one last night.) :oP
