I did a lot today. I did enough to wear out a normal person.

Boy convinced me to get up at the buttcrack of 10:45am. I splashed water on my face, found clothing, and we drove downtown to the farmer's market. I prefer to walk, but it was late. We got turnips, chard, broccoli, a head of red leaf lettuce bigger than my head and cleavage put together, mizuna, spring onions, and pork chops for boy. I also bought a soy-free, gluten-free honey walnut cake from the Hungarian lady. She's so wonderful. Her husband is sweet, too.

We ran into [livejournal.com profile] jb98 as we were leaving. I gave her a couple bites of the cake.

We came home and rested for an hour, ate some lunch, and prepared to go outside.

I potted eight salvia plants (two large pots), two dill and oregano (one big planter), two bee balms and one pineapple sage and one regular sage (one big pot), some basil (went into a planter already containing asclepias and nasturtium). I pulled the dead chickweed out of the cauldron and planted a miniature morning glory (convovulvus) in the middle, among the asclepias already growing. I weeded the garden (two rows of radishes, one row of daikon, one row of gai lan, one row of raab, along with the bean and sunflower bed). Tossed some borage seeds here and there. I planted in the groundseveral morning glory and moonflower plants, some cathedral bells, and tossed some cypress vine seeds here and there, along with some cardinal climber vine seeds. I admired my gigantic foxglove, too.

Boy weedwhacked the back, side yard, and front yard. He also mowed the front and most of the side yard.

Boy pulled the porch furniture to the side yard, where I hosed and scrubbed and hosed it some more. We set it in the sun. When boy was done mowing and i was done sweeping the porch, he put the furniture back in place. I also had boy relocate some creepy spiders who insisted on tending egg sacs near the front door. They're like a gray version of a black widow, just not shiny and black. I also showed him a nymph of his totem insect, as it sat on the grill, waiting for him to come near to say hello.

I pulled grapevine and virginia creeper out of the rhododendron, azalea, and hydrangea bushes. I pulled out the wild strawberry, crabgrass, and daffodil greenery from the front flower bed. I separated out some of the daffs (they're too close) and replanted them. I had boy get a bag of mulch from the yard and dumped it on, spreading it out well. I'll have to pick up some more salvia or something else that likes heat and afternoon shade. That bed is now much nicer.

I only got bitten by two mosquitoes, but they're the kind I'm allergic to. I need to go take an extra antihistamine soon and slather some anti-itch cream on before I scratch my skin raw.

We spread mulch around the base of the two metal arches, which is where I planted the vines (morning glory, moon flower, some seeds). I directed boy in helping me move some planter. We put the love-in-a-mist/salvia planter back where it will get more afternoon sun (I was letting the salvia adjust to light). We put the two trellis planters by the side walk--they're both already doing well, with sweet pea in one, convovulvus in the other, and they each have another vine sprouting up, but I can't remember what I put in there.

I need to get some more tomatoes out where they can harden off so I can put 'em in the ground. I haven't put the indeterminates out yet. I need to give [livejournal.com profile] xiane a yellow grape tomato plant, too.

So, we should eat dinner, clean out the fridge of any past-due leftovers, and maybe hit the grocery store. Tonight: THE DAWNING! YAY YAY YAY!

Now: I enjoy being clean and maybe talk boy into combing my hair because right now, I ache.
