Not one engineering degree between the two of us, but we managed to erect the tent (with "porch hood" and rain flap) in less time than it took my father-in-law the first time *he* tried--or so my husband says. I'm assuming he had the directions.

It was still a bit embarassing, but I blame no one but boy. After all, this is the tent he grew up with. When I used tents, I used (a) old army canvas a-frame tents; (b) a dome pup tent with all of two snap-tight poles (belonged to my brother); (c) a lean-to made with a tarp, some twine, and some found wood; or (d) nothing at all. These new-fangled tents--they're complex. ;)

Let's not forget that the bulk of my family camping was done in RVs. We liked our air conditioning.

I also inflated the air mattress. It fits inside, with room to spare. This means we can start car-camping at sites with electric within 25-50 feet. With fibro and the usual sleep problems coming with it, the mattress is a must.

There's a very slim chance of showers tonight. I might need to take the damn thing down, since we didn't have a tarp to put beneath it.

So... now we need to collect campfire cooking equipment (or just a campstove and some cheap pans).

And I need to concoct a bug repellent formula that won't kill me. Saw the first mosquito (outside, that is) of the season today. It wasn't an Asian Tiger. I've dumped the birdbath several times after seeing mosquito larva this week.

After boy showers, we need to go buy loratidine, pseudoephedrine, and a tarp. Then he has band practice and I get to go to WF with the delightful [livejournal.com profile] xiane prior to taking her to the radio station. :D

Didn't know you were getting into the "camping" mode. You can have ALL our equipment from "pre-rv" days. We have a lantern and campstove. We have a white canopy (not enclosed) we bought to use with the Class B, but it was only put up once. I think that may be about it.

You will find the same coleman camp stove at walmart that you'll find at an outdoor store for the most part, a decent cookset...well thats another story heh. You might have already known that though..

You might run into me at WF, I need veggies/fruit. Probably not though.
