charlottesville weather.

perfectly reasonable.

so, black/white stripey tights (more conservative than orange/black, blue/black, or red/black), two crinolines (not super-full, just enough to create a good a-line), and a black lace dress (lined, you perverts)... probably toss a sweater on top. my lace over-dress is looking a little ratty, so i'll leave it at home.

and i shall throw jeans, tshirt, flannel, and thick socks in the car. i'm not stupid. if a freak snowstorm hits (doubtful), i need to be prepared (yes, i'm a girl scout--why do you ask?).

so, off i go to pick up some food for boy. then i will come back home, program the VCR, and head back out to cville.

wheeeee!

*teehee*

yes, we have a very discriminating VCR. if i don't dress appropriately, it refuses to work for me, no matter how much cleavage i flash.

i went down to charlottesville, VA, a gorgeous little town (probably a little city by country standards) nestled in a charming little valley of the Piedmont. nearby are homes of Madison, Monroe, and Jefferson. tons of history, a decent collection of wineries and B&B's, plus plenty of empty land (well, not really empty--it's chock full of life and beauty).

boy and i compromised. i wanted to settle back in the midwest, where i had exciting weather and plenty of starlight. boy wanted to be in an area with a decent underground music scene and enough access to liberalism, good food, and interesting people. oh, and anywhere with the lethal combination of southern baptists and tornadoes was right out. boy's a good catholic and doesn't like to thwart god's divine will.

so we settled on charlottesville. it doesn't have my much-beloved and oft-missed weather, but it does have music, food, liberalism (though there is plenty of conservatism--this IS the evil Dominion of Virginia), and starlight isn't too far a drive.

the house i found will be described in an up-coming post. it's in the countryside about 25 min from downtown charlottesville. from any window, no neighbors are visible. i'm in heaven.

i think boy will discover that he likes country living. it daunts him--to know that we'll have trees and black angus for neighbors. he's always lived in suburbs and cities. boy knows how much i need to be able to hear myself think again. here in maryland, i'm surrounded by voices, fears, worries, joy... too much emotion, all piled atop me. yes, i'm a social creature, but i need space.
