I think I will crash a bunch of outdoor June weddings this year and sing along with cicada Brood X.

I wonder how many brides from the coast to the midwest will go ballistic when they realize their outdoor ceremonies are drowned out by the mating call of Magicicada sp.?

but I would be tempted to work dead cicadas into my dress: Pin them about the skirt, arrange them into a crunchy corsage. Turn that plague into a fertility theme!

I was just thinking that if I got married this summer I'd try to have a chorus of cicadas. Maybe if I trained them in advance, I could have them singing their little cicada songs instead of having a band or a DJ.

A fertility-themed wedding scares me a bit, though...

I remember the last summer, I was really surprised when the cicada's here showed up. In Indiana they have an alternative song, high pitch, low pitch...here they are just one steady sound instead of wheeee oooh....it's just wheeeeeeeee. Wonder why?
