so... it's highly possible that i grabbed alum instead of cream of tartar while i was making snickerdoodles. it's a case of brain fog + unlabelled white powders.

if i feed these to people, will we all die?

aye, but it's used in making some kinds of pickles.

i used two teaspoons of whatever i had after i tasted it--it tasted tart. i think that cream of tartar and alum both taste tart, with alum taking a bit more zingy (metallic).

hrm... now i have to decide whether or not to inflict this on [livejournal.com profile] solieri's party crowd. ;)
