I was browsing Barnes & Noble online tonight, adding things to the cart. Boy and I received a gift card from his Grams, so we were picking out stuff. Well, as I'm checking out, I decide to do web searches for possibly useful coupon codes.

None were turning up useful (5 or 10 bucks off 50 or 100 dollar purchases--we weren't spending that much. free shipping is automatic on orders over 25 bucks)...

I had an idea and did a search on AAA (we're members) and Barnes and Noble. Bingo. Tons of links. I think I just picked one at random... and then clicked on the AAA/B&N link. 5% off, taken at checkout. So I cleared out my cart and started over with a link through a AAA website affiliate. Sure, I only saved a couple bucks, but that's significant in our book budget. ;)

Thing is, B&N never even asked for our AAA number.

Also of note--my parents have a booklet on Travel at home. Apparently, one's Kroger card (midwest/southeast supermarket chain) can garner decent discounts at certain hotel chains and other places. Interesting to know. I might investigate further.

I'm making comfort food. Onions, carrots, mushrooms, garlic, bay leaf, pepper, broth, and--soon--egg noodles. Lots of noodles. Nope, not wheat-free, either.

I was making banana bread with two overly ripe bananas earlier this week. Since they were organic and ripe, they weren't huge. I needed 1.5 cups and barely had 1/2 a cup. So I pulled out the food processor and shredded/blended some carrots... grabbed a jonagold apple... and we have banana-apple-carrot bread. it's quite yummy.
