rootofnewt: (cooking)

I have this mix... i'm making the casserole on the back of the package (mix + water + canned tomatoes + tortillas). There was no temperature listed, so I guessed and set the oven for 350.

At the website, under more info, I see that the oven should be set for 450. How much longer should I cook it at 350?

I've followed the directions so far (20 min uncovered, 20 min loosely covered with foil) and it's just about at the 40 minute mark. I assume I should add at least another 20 minutes.

20 mintues might work. i'd go until the tortillas are smushy-like.

Yah know, there's GOT to be an adjustment formula for this someplace. Though, I suppose it probably depends on the caloric absorbtion rate of food....

i cooked it another 40 minutes total, i think. i've lost track of time. it seems to be done, at any rate.

i decided that i'd use the potato standard, since most of the mix ingredients are starch.

Excellent plan! I'm glad it worked out, and that dinner is at hand. (:

I think that somehow, there must be a derivable function for this, for all things, perhaps with weighted constants for starch, liquids, fats, proteins, sugars, etc....
