Dec. 5th, 2003 07:16 pmmy boy is so good for me. he persistently called the doctor for me today. when he finally told me what the doctor had said (clean xrays, thank goth) and what he was prescribing (uh, not so good), he called the doctor back and played messenger boy, since even talking is leaving me out of breath and heart-poundy. to be honest, typing is doing that, but i need SOME sort of social interaction. i've gone nuts this week.
the doctor ended up calling in a pain drug i took years ago which stopped working (tolerance), but should now, hopefully work again, corticosteroids, and a flu med... now, i'm not keen on taking tamiflu, since it works for InfA or InfB and needs to be started within 40 hours of onset of symptoms (I've had pain for well over a week and a fluctuating fever of 100F for a few days now and I'm not sure I HAVE the flu)... but i think the doctor will be upset if i dont' take it. so i will. i thought about refusing the prescription, but... *sigh* if there's a chance it will work, i'll take it.
my neck is so incredibly tense from the stress of trying not to cry from the pain. crying hurts so much worse. and i have spine/neck pain from whatever this is ANYWAY. *sigh*
anyhow, back to boy. he picked up the prescriptions and handed me a pressie! a little glowy necklace of a green star! (i have a bat and a skull already). he's so sweet!
he took some stuff out to the shed, refilled the bird feeders, shovelled the walks (well, he's required to do that, but he did it by himself... he's made me lots of cider today (and bought more earlier)... in fact, when i set the kettle to boiling, he took it upon himself to pour and stir the cider and bring it to me without even waiting for me to do it. he's done ALL the dishes this week. he's taken such good care for me.
he's making dinner now. pizza bread. :)

Date: 2003-12-05 05:32 pm (UTC)question about the neck pain - would it help if he massaged it a little? i know there's a point where it gets so sore that massage is torture but when it isn't that bad i find this helps:
i lie on my back on the bed or floor. sweetie puts her hands under my neck and curls her fingers - right where the hollow of your head meeting your neck is. pressure applied there very gently will release a multitude of sinus & neck tension pains.
not sure if it makes sense but it's called cranial sacral release i believe.

Date: 2003-12-05 05:47 pm (UTC)we have a really good massage book:
The Book of Massage
by Lucinda Lidell et al
The shoulders, neck, scalp and the face sections are ones he does when i'm in horrid head tension spots. so soothing. and he does foot rubs, too.
the problem is that even when being gentle, my neck tension is so strong that it hurts even his very strong fingers (after all, he's a pianist and guitarist). so i don't ask too often. i get the foot rubs nightly, though. they help a lot.

Date: 2003-12-05 06:23 pm (UTC)if we had time, i'd consider asking for nightly neck rubs along the lines of hte foot rub ( i can't remember if he's using a shiatsu massage or something else) in hope that we could train my neck to relax. when he started doing my feet, they were extremely stiff and my ankles wouldn't flop at will for him.

Date: 2003-12-05 09:05 pm (UTC)i love just about any part to get massaged (except for that space from my butt to my ankles... don't even look at my legs funny or it will hurt like a bitch) hands, feet, butt, neck, shoulders, head. :) yum!
if sweetie didn't have arthritis herself, i'd beg for nightly foot rubs ;) however, since i can't return them, the guilt prevents me from asking. i get rubbins from time to time :)

Date: 2003-12-05 06:38 pm (UTC)I've been really worried about you ... thinking about you this week and such. My mommy has fibro and lots of trouble with her hands. She had hand surgery and ankle surgery, too, not too long ago ... I know I voice my dislike of her treatment of me, I do love her, and even though she gets on my last nerves sometimes ... I would never wish her any pain, especially fibro-esque pain =( *Sigh* I hope that SOMETHING the doctor gives will help make you feel better.
Wish I could do more to help you out and brighten your spirits. Feel better! ::warm and loving, yet gentle, hugs::
