it's late

I really hate the days when handling a paperback is out of the question, nevermind a softcover or hardback. Heavy, dusty, cumbersome, painful...

I've been reduced to re-reading second and third-rate vampire fiction (and worse). I could quite easily lose my mind in this stuff--the literary equivalent of a black velvet artist who only copies rococo artists.

Someone save me... please.

Books on tape or CD? I use them regularly during my hour-and-a-half roundtrip commute every day. It's a bit of a different feeling than actually reading a book, but it might satisfy your need for something besides third-rate Vampire fiction.

Just a suggestion.

audio books are okay for car rides, commuting, watching tv, washing dishes, sewing, etc. when i'm not occupied with something else, however, i find that the person reading the book speaks far too slowly.

i devour books... tend to read by paragraphs and pages, not words and sentences. at home, when i'm bored and tired and too achy/weak to hold up a book, i can't really occupy myself with sewing or housework, so audio tapes don't cut it.

on the bright side, it only took three issues of "Dreams of Decadence" to knock me out. ;)

With the invention of E-Books, you can read books that way, without being exposed to dust. I know there are separate E-Book readers...I have no idea how expensive they are though.

yes, yes, yes

ebooks i DO read. :) i need to get some more. i'll only read them on the mac (LCD screen) and then usually only if i can customize my screen settings (black on white just hurts a little too much).

but, yeah. ebooks are a great thing. i don't mind paying for them (in fact, i think it's essential). i also subscribe to gothic.net, so i can read short stories and stuff there. i completely forgot about that--i could've been doing that the other night.
