Our first Christmas in our first house we invited ten people over for dinner. As I was running the garbage disposal the entire plumbing system backed up,from the kitchen into both bathroom sinks, the bathtub and the shower. Potato peels in the bathtub and shower. On Christmas Day. We *did* manage to find a plumber. My dad was there so he paid for it, because at that point every penny we'd ever had had gone for the down payment on that house. After the plumber left everyone rolled up their sleeves and cleaned up the bathrooms while I finished making dinner. It was kind of fun in a twisted, all-mucking-in-together sort of way :).
