I dunno what's up, but everytime I try to go to CNN (today), I get the top banner and no bottom text. I don't know if they're just overloaded, or if it's my ISP. It was doing this at work, too. Blargh.
They did where I came from (actually, earlier--fifth or sixth grade, but I know we covered it in junior high, too). Some folks don't seem to understand how it works, though... not sure if they don't remember, never knew, or grew up in a country with a different system.
It wasn't taught in South Louisiana. I haven't read the article but I will. I did click it hoping that maybe I'd see a graphic to give me a quick fix before bed but the article is too involved for a just before bed read (ok, anything that isn't pretty pictures is too involved just before bedtime...)
I only learned it because in highschool I didn't take chemistry and instead took something called Mechnical Sciences, where we learned stuff like that, and different sorts of radiators and engines. I've forgotten most of it, but knew enough to 1) not be too worried, and 2) wonder why they hadn't made some sort of failsafe so things like that didn't happen to this degree.
I wasn't taught it in school but, then again, I had really crap teachers in one of the worst school districts in the state. But I'm learning an awful lot now that I'm out! ;) .
