I have an appointment with the podiatrist again today.

I asked boy to go with me in hopes that (a) I won't be as prone to breaking out in tears if the doctor makes comments like "well, you don't know *anything*"; (b) the doctor will treat me a bit more respectfully; and (c) I won't forget anything.

I want the doctor to take me seriously when I tell him that the metatarsal bands make me feel off-balance. He said I'd get used to it. I haven't. And wearing them does help the nerve pain, but the sides of my feet, my ankles, my knees, and my hips and back all ache after wearing them. After years of fibro, cfids, and dizziness, I *know* when I'm actually off balance. The doctor may have a medical degree, but that doesn't mean he can miraculously detect what's going on in *my* body, the one *I* actually live in. He's a doctor, not a telepath. And I'm not some moron he can belittle.

Good luck.

If he's a jerk, I suppose you could always point out that a friend of yours recently died after years of medical care during which the docs could not figure out exactly what was wrong with him nor how to fix it.

I approve of docs in general, but you're right: they're not telepathic.
