busy busy day.

it took them all day to get the car fixed. blower motor. a bit more expensive than we expected, but we can manage it..

i did do a lot of walking, some hanging out with chris and stu, then i bussed down to get the car, went home, picked up boy (who quickly loaded the car), then we went into town to flyer for Terminal Ready's cd release Toga Party at [livejournal.com profile] the_dawning with [livejournal.com profile] explodingcat, [livejournal.com profile] mbickers, and [livejournal.com profile] xiane. WOOHOO! fun, caffeine, and pizza were all had.

boy and i proceeded to unload the car, where he met his newest friend--a big plastic squid with bendy arms. and he saw the pink delight that will soon grace our car (and i'm going to get one for M, so I can't say what it is without spoiling the surprise).

went to harris teeter to get fixings for baklazhani, which will get made tomorrow... bought ice cream, too, because I NEED IT.

came home, only to discover that the kitty we thought was just fluffy and fat is pregnant. she's definitely pregnant. she let me feel her belly. it squirms slightly when prodded and palpated. o_O

who wants a feral-but-almost-tamed cat and her potential brood? Come on, you know you want a cat-load of kittens.

i'm going to eat my half a bagel and let boy rub my feet now.

and then i'm going to bed... early for once.

I acquired a pregnant cat once. I was 8. Actually, my mom found her while shopping, but her conscience kept weighing on her for hours afterwards, when she pictured that pregnant cat living in a parking lot in a high-traffic, mega-shopping-center area. So, after she picked me up from school, we went back and luck was on our (and her) side because we found her again, trying to hunt birds in hedges. So we took her with us, took her to the vet, and took her home. Three days later, she gave birth to three kittens in our garage. It was pretty exciting to see the kittens develop and grow up (once they were old enough, though, two were adopted; we kept the mother cat and one kitten). Of course, charity is a much better circumstance for that. I wouldn't ever let a pet wander outside, unneutered. (Well, I don't believe in letting pets roam free, anyway.) Of course, that doesn't really help *you* much...

The SPCA in town at least won't kill them. And kittens are easier to adopt than older cats. (No, I can't take any. I'm already the widow with four cats living in the house on top of the hill. Any more would have witch-hunters after me. ;))

I didn't know the SPCA in town was a no-kill shelter. I still don't know that they would take feral cats.

There is a feral cat shelter/rescue in Madison and one in Harrisonburg... I've contacted the one in Harrisonburg via email, but haven't heard back yet. I might call the one in Madison to see if they can take her in. I honestly think the adult cat *could* be completely tamed and would make a happy housecat (probably happier barncat, though). Kittens are much more desirable, since they're small, wee, playful, and cute. This feral cat has no curiousity about toys. She looks in the house, but ignores the laser pointer. ;)

And yes, I think you already qualify as cat lady. ;)

You could ship some kittens with the you-know-what. Rumor will eat 'em.
