Feb. 27th, 2003 11:54 pmDear Advice Person,
I'm married to someone who squeals at random intervals and announced, "My friend! I've found my friend!"
Sometimes he just squeaks and points.
His friend is a box elder beetle.
Mind you, we have NO box elder trees near the house.
This beetle (or various generations) wanders around the house. I'm pretty sure I've heard boy refer to it as "my precious" when I'm not around.
Should I be worried?
Signed,
Not Jealous of a Bug

If you're hearing boy say things when you're not around, you should definitely be worried. You seem to be having aural hallucinations ;)
As for the house beetle, it may be boy's familiar. Perhaps he could train it to hitchhike and carry pharmacy bags. Beetles are typically of a Neutral alignment, so try to convince it that going to town would be to its benefit.
