Randomness

I've been lazy and haven't managed to get a VA driver's license yet. I think that should be on my to-do list this week. Initially, I didn't get it because I was too sick/recovering/drugged. Then I just sort of forgot about it. Then vanity set in, too. After the surgery and such, I was broken out for a long time. And then, just as things start to get better, my period starts coming every three weeks. I break out the week before my period and clear up by ovulation *if* I'm lucky. Well, at three-week cycles, you can see where that goes.

I managed to only get one cystic zit this cycle and it's not that noticeable. Of course, I have a bit of UV-reaction going on, but that's not going to go away. I should go ahead and get the ID now, before my spring allergies make my shiners even worse than they already are.

I know it seems awfully vain, but I'm not photogenic as it is and a bad license pic just makes me cringe every time I open my wallet. My Maryland license is pretty decent, so I've been spoiled.

The car needs work. I don't know what's wrong. It's something to do with the brakes. That really disturbs me, since I had new brakes put on a few months ago. They make a weird sound when braking, especially city braking. It's not the high pitched squeal that comes from the brake warning system. It's more of a sighing-clunkiness. I can't place it. I have no clue if it's the master cylinder or if a splashguard is scraping the rotors. I'm going to call Finley's tomorrow and I really hope it's something minor. If it's nothing terribly pricey, I'll ask them to change the transmission fluid and filter, too. That's due about now. I want them to check the transmission and power steering lines as well, since *something* reddish-brown leaked in Indiana and both the transmission fluid (by a 1/2 pt) and the power steering fluid (by 1/2) were down a little, not a lot, but enough to warrant pre-emptive maintenance. *sigh*

We waited too long to buy a computer with our Christmas money. This always happens. We get a windfall and something breaks, usually a vehicle.

I've been sleeping days. I know boy really dislikes this. He prefers I be up and about. I've been sleeping 4 or 5am to 3 or 4pm. I'm going to try to go to bed at 4am and get up by noon. I'm not sure I can do it, as crappy as I've felt lately. I need the sleep, but if all I do is sleep, I feel dead. The house is chilly. I could turn up the heat, but I like the cold to sleep. Of course, the cold makes it damn near impossible to get me out of bed. And, since I'm asleep during the day, I can't take care of things like calling the mechanic or visiting the DMV.

And why are my joints hurting? I have fibro. Knees and hips aren't supposed to hurt in the joint, just the muscle. Must speak to my body about this.

Boy is taking taiji qi gong classes. He had his first session last night. I think he liked it. I went to see [livejournal.com profile] xiane at Coyote, then we hit IY and I dropped her off downtown so she could go see the Stu and be his money fairy.

If boy wants me to be awake during the day, maybe I can start doing some sewing projects in the office. I can spread out the board and stuff and cut in there, then sew in the music room, where my machine is. Maybe I should see if I can budget a rotary cutter. My old one got tossed behind the water heater at the house in Rockville and rusted. I have no clue HOW it got there. I certainly didn't do it. It probably got dropped and kicked when we were putting grommets in boy's fetish ball costume a few years ago. I have two cutting mats, but I haven't replaced the cutter. I should. It was so much easier on my wrists.

I've been perusing the rental ads for stuff in Charlottesville. It's a pain. Landlords either want tenants NOW or in June (after the semester, I suppose). I wish I could find a landlord who understood that people need to give one-two months' notice on their current rental. After all, if every landlord expects this, why would it be a surprise that folks will be looking ahead of time so they can have a new residence lined up? I guess I'll just have to start calling in February. We're going to try to swing two rents in March, though it will be tight. That way, we'll have the whole month to move. Heck, I might even rent a minivan for a few days, because I could make *several* trips and just pay 20/day + gas. If I use my own car, that's 45-50 miles round trip. I'd rather put the miles on an unlimited rental. If I can move the bulk of our stuff without a big truck, I'll just have to borrow friends for the furniture. I'll get a big truck for the furniture, but not a huge truck like last time. Fewer pieces and fewer boxes of books = happier friends who might actually enjoy the pizza and beer we provide. ;) I probably need to make more friends so I have people to help.

I wish I could have a night sky like this in town. I wonder if I can convince the local utility company to schedule blackouts at my convenience? Probably not feasible. Such a shame, but people will want heat, AC, or their water pumps. *sigh* Maybe I can get upward-projecting light banned. The stadium would hate that, but I bet local residents would cheer the downfall of the purple-green light of doom.

There's a light dusting of snow on the ground. I wish we had more snow around here, but not tomorrow. I need to drive into town on dry roads.

Okay, I should sleep now. I hope I can.

OT...
