this picture shocks me with its depth. i get very very quiet at the thought of all those galaxies out way past Coma Berenices. So many possibilities for solar systems, for other worlds. So vast.

Krassie, are we going to be able to see the meteor(? maybe something else?) that is supposed to pass so closely to earth next week? I saw something on the FOX news crawl about it last night & thought of you.

we're not as likely to see meteors without telescopes. i don't know if the comet will be visible or not. i can check on it.

it's still pretty dim (http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/cfa/ps/icq/CometMags.html#2002X5), but should be visible with the naked eye where i am. let me pull out a sky atlas and plot the location. ;)

in a couple weeks, it will be lot brighter (http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/iau/Ephemerides/Comets/2002X5_1.html"), but i need to see if it will be *visible* here.

i think that it will remain close to hercules, but it's edging lower and lower as time passes on, eventually, early early morning skies (before twilight) might be good.
