i *thought* i mixed my grasshopper milkshakes too weak... so i added more liqueur...

woooo.

now i'm mostly pain-free.

la la la.

good thing i don't make this a habit... but the milkshakes were YUMMY. and i'm not angry.

well, not TOO angry. i'm mostly irked with my latin text, but i'll live. for now, i'm heading to bed where i can remain nice and toasty until i wake up cold and drafty because boy has stolen the covers.

ooh!

I just noticed on your profile that you like Tom Robbins. I guess that means despite your poor taste in friends ([livejournal.com profile] jkatj for instance), you've got excellent taste in books. hehe. He's cool. [livejournal.com profile] jkatj doesn't like him much, but what does she know?

Maybe I should finally add you to my friends list.

shhhhh... don't tell her. She'll kick my ass for stealing friends again.

So you get a little credit. Big deal. I think my favorite was either Still Life with Woodpecker or the one where the material objects are on a quest (Skinny Legs and All). They're all such fun books though, it's hard to pick a favorite.

I don't remember that one. Maybe that means it didn't grab me much either. hmm... I just read the synopsis on Borders.com (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0553377876/ref=pd_gw_cp_4/107-3425516-0479731) and I STILL don't remember anything from it. Unless... I think the main character ate asparagus and when she peed, she could smell it. That's about all I can remember, but I don't know if that's even from THAT book or not.

ayup

that's the one.

the main character and her "love" interest shared that. he pointed out that, after eating asparagus, for the next 24 hours or so, their urine would smell alike.

yeah.

that's romantic.

i think that's why i love tom robbins, even if that's my least favorite book. fortunately, i read that one FIRST, so all the others have been an improvement. ;)

ooohh! i just loved skinny legs & all!! i picked up another roadside attraction at the used bookstore - it was that or Still Life with Woodpecker & i couldn't decide - but i haven't been able to get into it yet. not sure why, maybe i'll go back & see if they still have the other?

w00t!

you mean we don't have to surrepitiously read each other's journal and then feign innocence when certain people ask?

tom robbins rocks. :) i've met a great many friends through our mutual admiration of his work.

what did you think of fierce invalids?

Uhmm...

Well, I . . . uhmm . . . hmm. . . urrr...

OK! So that's the ONLY one I haven't read. I was waiting for it to come out in paperback. My dog ate my homework. My umbrella turned inside out and I dropped my purse. Uhmm...

Is it good? (she asked, in a tiny, tiny voice full of shame and embarassment)

eh, you're forgiven. i was waiting for it to come out in paperback, but boy bought it the month it came out in hardback as a gift for me. he's so sweet. :)

it's very good. while i don't approve of everything Switters does, he's still a VERY interesting man with a wonderful story. i think you'll like it. i won't say any more than that because i hate spoilers.
