cheesy goodness
Aug. 5th, 2008 05:38 pmChebe just shot themselves in the foot. Why, do you ask? Well, they finally printed directions for making wraps/flatbread on their packages. And I finally tried making them, using my handy dandy tortilla press. I mixed as usual, adding extra thyme and some onion powder, plenty of parmesan . . . flattened them in the press (turning and repressing about four times). . . cooking them on my cast iron griddle.
Slather with mayo, roll up with some smoked turkey . . . DAMN!
They are excellent. Why is this so bad for chebe? A package of chebe bread only makes four wraps/tortillas. And a package of chebe is pricey. This is the kick in the ass I needed to stop being so lazy and just mix up my pão de queijo from scratch. It's not even hard or time consuming to make. I just have to, y'know, take time to actually *measure* instead of cutting open cellophane and dumping the contents into the bowl of my KitchenAid. I'm pretty sure I can skip the first step of that recipe, too.
