Leave No Crumbs
Jun. 14th, 2008 06:07 pmWe were going to do a trial run of camping tonight . . . but I looked at the forecast and the possibility of strong thunderstorms convinced me that we should stay home with the urchin and poodle-dog. Strong winds, lightning, trees on top of a mountain? Not so much fun in a tent.
Anyhow, my parents-in-law are visiting in a week and the house is a mess. We'll spend the time cleaning, cooking, and cleaning some more.
Since many of my favorite campfoods are now off limits (tomatoes and carrots are no longer welcome), I've been perusing a cookbook we haven't played with too much. We suddenly realized that we have a dehydrator and a cookbook full of camp foods which use the dehydrator! WOOOO!
So I'm planning our vacation meals now. Well, soon I'll make some arepas. I bet those would work well at camp if we have a fire going. We'll see how they go tonight.
