This is what greeted me when I went in to put the potatoes in the potato-kale soup.

My beloved oxalis.

Tom caught me looking over my shoulder at the approaching storm. Fortunately, I managed to pot my tulips before the wind hit. It was an awesome storm--fast, quick, dark with bright lightning. No hail or funnels, but I wouldn't be surprised if some were spawned by that system. Yes, I'm wearing a Terminal Ready shirt. My gauze skirt is pulled between my legs and tucked in my waistband so I can run back and forth fetching pots. ;)

The opossum has a friend besides boy.

Kitchen, south window. Spider plants, oxalis, windowbox with dill and pennyroyal sprouts (on the window side, I had a few cups of morning glories)... On the microwave, morning glory and two covered trays of flower and vegetable seedlings.

Kitchen, west window. Sanseveria, violets, a white oak acorn in the cup by the window, aloe in the two big pots on the right, jade in one, basil plant in a bag. On the floor, an old skillet holding the morning glory seedlings. Most of my cookbooks and cooking magazines have been taken to the new house. There are a few cookbooks, some magazines, and a bunch of printed recipes I need to put in a binder.

This is Major, one of the roaming black labs. I took this pic a couple weeks ago.

[livejournal.com profile] krues8drwill burn in hell for wearing a neubauten shirt tucked into khakis, but I won't tell if you won't.

Pictures of the new place. I particularly like the view on the other side of the backyard fence. And, [livejournal.com profile] ashbet, we have curtains that match your wallpaper.

I made a big pot of baklazhani tonight. It took me about an hour and a half to cut everything up and get the preliminary sauteeing done. I forgot how labor intensive it can be. I don't mind. I enjoy the whole process of skinning tomatoes (score bottom, put in bowl, pour on boiling water, cover, let sit for a bit, then slide skins off and gut tomato, chopping as I go). It's nice and gory. [livejournal.com profile] red_frog, are we still on for dinner? The apricot pirozhki don't take as long to make. What else should I bring? Do you want or need me to go shopping for anything else? Do you want boy to help with the beast-dish?

Right now, I'm eating a big bowl of pesto tortellini topped with tomato, portabello mushroom, and olive sauce. mmmm...
Today's Google image

yay! Einstein's awesome!

okay...

tunic is plotted, cut, pinned, and waiting to be sewn. if i thought i could use the machine without waking up boy, i'd do so. instead, i'll go to bed and get up and do it later.

still need to make pirozhki and the two togas.

must go check baklazhani and put it in the fridge. good thing i like the stuff and boy's grown fond of it. if we *aren't* doing dinner with Magi, we'll be eating it for a few days. i'll make sure to take her a vat bowl, in that case.

my eyes itch. blah. spring sucks.

[livejournal.com profile] red_frog, we have guillotine and fluxx... should we bring them?

anyhow, bed now. i really wanna sew that tunic, but i suppose it's best not to while boy's asleep.
I let some yeast proof in the kitchen. It's almost ready to be mixed into my dough, provided it's foamy...

[livejournal.com profile] explodingcat: The yeast is forming letters! It's trying to communicate!
[livejournal.com profile] krasota: Oh? what's it trying to say?
[livejournal.com profile] explodingcat: It's saying "EAT FLAT BREAD!"

*giggle*

boy says, "Wow, I like them even MORE now. I'm starting to fear his desire to visit the mystical toilet paper lady.

while a sad story, that first sentence is amazingly ambiguous.

I get out of the shower and start rolling out and filling pirozhki. I stop, look up, and think "I need wine". So I grab a bottle of zinfandel and open it, then ask boy to get a wineglass for me and pour a glass (I'm back to rolling pirozhki by now).

I realize, as I'm standing there sipping my wine, that I must be quite a sight. Black, flour-covered boxer briefs... grey towel on my head... flour on my face, calmly sipping a glass while holding a green marble rolling pin in the other hand... I say to boy, "this must be quite a picture."

He grins. I finish up the apricot pirozhki and offer him the dregs of apricot goo to eat. I then remember that I have chocolate chips leftover from last Passover. I grab them from the freezer and decide it's time to comb my hair. I head off to the bathroom while boy opens the bag of chips.

He pours some chips into a bowl, I start rolling again. Then he just starts laughing as I eat chips with one hand and sip wine with the other. He giggles as I lean over and kiss him. "All-covered-in-flour-girl drinking her wine and schnackered on chocolate."

I love cooking.
someone I know ([livejournal.com profile] stmaybe???) paints flower pots.

there's a question about painting them in [livejournal.com profile] craftgrrl
