Sep. 18th, 2002 12:33 amI'm watching Titus. I've been meaning to see it, but have put it off due to the gore and violence. I think I'm going to need this on DVD so I can examine it more thorougly. I like film adaptations of Shakespeare... this one is pretty impressive.
our power went out around 3:30 today. as of 4:30, the power company still hadn't figured out what was wrong, but did know it was affecting 30-40 households in the area. at five, we headed into town for pizza and a movie.
Went out to see Episode II tonight. We giggled a lot. Boy survived, which is a good thing. It's a fairly exciting film and he managed okay! :)
Afterward, we joined friends for hanging out and kitty-cat observations. As I was leaving, the neighbor stormed out on her porch and yelled at us and told us that we were using her steps for the last time (she didn't mind the last time and I *DO* ask when folks are outside and have always been kindly told "sure, no problem." once, i was told i didn't NEED to ask.). I asked if I could walk down to my car and thanked her sweetly.
once i got in the car, i mumbled to myself about how I hate the fact that the US isn't one of those countries where pedestrians are given right of way to cross property. It's not like she didn't know her neighbors (our friends) don't have front steps at the moment (and they're *almost* done). Did she expect us to scale the hill, climbing through the ivy? I suppose she prefers we skulk down the narrow dark alleyway in back. Doesn't bother me a bit, but she might mind having strangers out by her car. I just get so angry at people like her.
power was on when we got back home. that mollified me a bit. i could take a shower (i've been a couch person for a couple days) AFTER we managed to get the water pump working again. *sigh* it doesn't handle power outages well.
i need to read titus andronicus again. i think i could gather a bit more than i did the last time i read it (i was 11).
this movie is so disturbing. it should be, given the play... but wow.
