today we went hiking off the BRP again. this time, we did the northern mile of the slacks trail. it's a nice woodsy trail, probably has some brilliant views of the sherando lake area and the opposite ridge. we crossed some small rockslides and stopped at the crossing with the torry ridge trail, stood for a bit while boy enjoyed being at a crossroads, then turned around and went back to the car.

the views?

gorgeous but not far, when we weren't in the middle of a cloud. and that had its own magic, of course. we watched the clouds and mist dance over the opposite ridge across a small valley. it was raining most of the time, so we got quite damp, but we didn't mind. walking in the rain is a lovely thing, especially in a hemlock and balsam forest. i left the camera in the car.

and the quote of the day?
[livejournal.com profile] explodingcat"I just fulfilled a lifelong dream I never knew I had--peeing in a cloud."

since these clouds move on up to the DC area, I figured y'all up in DC would appreciate the forewarning.

I'm pretty tired, so i think i'll go to bed around two. i slept in til 2:30 today, but even a two-mile easy hike wears me out.

oh, boy and i watched "serendipity" while eating our artichokes and bread tonight. cute film. :)

i'm not sure i should thank [livejournal.com profile] djkangal for sharing this link or curse him...

requires flash, i'm sure

in other news, i slept 11 hours last night... have spent theday on the couch when not outside cooing at cow puppies.

mmm, pain. it's so nice to have you in my life. not.
This morning, boy noticed a lone cow puppy sitting under a tree in the pasture. By the time I woke up, a heifer had joined it. I noticed that this small side of beef must be very fresh, indeed--still had some afterbirth on it. Must have a rookie mom or one who doesn't like to spend hours and hours eating up all the afterbirth in sight.

Later, another lone cow puppie came ambling across the pasture from over the hill. This cow puppy checked out the sleeping puppy and then paid much interest in the heifer, who was not impressed.

Eventually, this curious puppy's mother came walking across the pasture, bellowing all the way, until this pup ran off to meet her demands and get his damn lunch already.

In other news, apparently there are some people who find pictures of tired, weary, and bored people sexy. I guess I can't complain too much.

*giggling*

smartass responses to the vampire personal ads

quoted from the page:
<<"My name is Trynax, and I was brought across in 1996 by a master vampire named Xainax."

Apparently, he's from a line of Dwarven Vampires. "Arrr! My name be Drax the Everliving! Hand me my axe, so that I may cleanse my dark soul with an old-fashioned arse-kicking!">>
