well, most in this region *are*, unless they're taking aerial photographs. those aerial shots are usually done during the day. this copter was flying a little higher and not circling. and it was LOUD, but it was dark outside, so i couldn't see the color. ;)

Maybe it's a search and rescue sort of thing, or maybe someone wants to take infrared pictures of you running outside naked and pointing at the sky.
