my memories of oil of olay are all older women oriented. my grandmother used OoO, my friends' grandmothers. teenagers never considered using the stuff... things like that.

for some reason, i remember the commercials as only having older women. not elderly, but 50+, sometimes even 60+ or 70+--women with gray hair and wrinkles.

now, is this just some weird brain fart? did Oil of Olay really use older women in their commercials and market to older women? or did they use women in the 20-40 age range like they do now and my mind considers "old" far differently now than it did when i was four? am i projecting on my older memories, making the women seem older?

Well, honestly, the women in the commercials when I was younger were older than the women they are currently showing in the Olay commericials. Statistics show that the 20-35 demographic spends more money on health/beauty/clothing than the forty plus demographic (don't make me prove it) and perhaps they are targeting that market nowadays. I also remember equating Oil of Olay with my grandmother as a youngster (even though she is 77 years young).

i remeber the women in the commercials

all looked like they were around my yiayia's
-gramma's- age when i was a little kid.

they all had grey hair & even wore it sort of
in the same style she did (which might have
just been the style @ the time)?

i have a very faulty memory tho,
so dont take my word for it.

No, you're right, the women in the ads were grey-haired. I remember my grandmother using Oil of Olay, too. Now the products are marketed toward women in their 30s & 40s who want to /prevent/ aging. I think this change came about at the time when they decided to do makeup as well as skin care products.
