where were you born?
Muncie, IN. I lived in a small town about half an hour SE of Muncie.

If you don't live there, do you want to move back? Why or why not?
I have no desire to live in Muncie. I spent two years there for high school. It's a decent midwestern city/town, but I prefer living where I can easily buy hummus, red chard, and Marmite.

Where in the world do you feel the safest.
with boy.

Do you feel you are well-traveled?
somewhat. I've travelled over most of the eastern half of the united states and i've seen sweden, denmark, and eastern urban russia... yet, i'd like to travel a lot more.

What is the most interesting place you've been?
various burial/ceremonial mounds in indiana. i find them very intriguing.

i had a similar feeling at Ales stenar, a shipsetting in sweden.

Marmite?? Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew!!

Biology is strange, ain't it? A tofu-dog would kill you, yet you'll eat that.

There are places where it's hard to find red chard? Even in the most rural California towns, I've always been able to find it, even in the *sixties*. I guess it's grown here.

where i grew up (rural indiana), one can find spinach, cabbage, and lettuce (iceberg) in the grocery store. sometimes leaf lettuce can be found. fresh (not frozen or canned) spinach was *not* widely available until i was a teenager.

i never even SAW red chard until i was in college. i didn't try cooking it until a couple years ago. i never saw non-powdered garlic until i was in college--you couldn't buy bulbs or jars of garlic in the stores where i grew up. my (then future) father-in-law had to teach me how to use it.

when i want kale in indiana, i have to drive to a larger town/city and go to a grocery store in the "black" part of town. apparently, white people don't eat greens.

we grew leaf lettuce, cabbage, spinach, brussels sprouts, and okra in our garden, among other things.... and white radishes. YUM.

white radishes (NOT daikon) are impossible to find in stores around here (virginia, not indiana). we bought them at roadside stands in indiana. a local organic farmer has started bringing them to the local market, so i'm in heaven. YUM.

you can't get marmite on cape cod. my parents have just gone across there to visit my uncle and aunt and they were begged to take a large pot of marmite with them :-)
