mmmm.... fried green tomatoes
Jul. 11th, 2002 08:40 pmso... i'm at the farmer's market...
i see a bucket full of green tomatoes. i ask the elderly gentleman how much they cost.
"a dollar a pound", he tells me.
then i reach over, pick one up, ask him to weigh it. he puts it in my bag and says "it's all paid for" and pats me on the head.
oookay.
we came away from the market with yellow pear tomatoes, cukes, new red taters (roasted 'em for dinner), some orzo with feta and parsley and other stuff, and my green tomato.
oh, and boy got some summer sausage.
i've made two batches of sfincione dough (8 crusts) in the breadmachine. well, the second batch is still rising. i'll take those to the beach.
i'm gonna make some spinach dip, some cucumber salad, and the garlic-tomato-basil sfincione topping.
tomorrow evening, we're back up to jersey and saturday--the beach! woohoo!
