Getting out.
Jan. 10th, 2010 08:04 pmWoooo! Tomorrow's forecast high is mid-30s. That means I can go out with a fleece, unless the wind is above the 5-10mph forecast. This makes it easier to get out and about. When I need the windproof layer of my coat, I can't use the Ergo. And if I'm not using the Ergo, Ronan goes in the Deuter (unless he wants to walk) and needs more bundling, because he's not up against me.
So mid-30s with a light breeze is fine. He can be in his coat, gloves, babylegs, trousers, socks, boots. And I can put on a warm shirt and my fleece and the Ergo and we're good to go.
I don't mind the cold. I really don't. But I like to get outside every day and that's hard with a toddler. He can't tell me if his nose or hands are painfully cold. Well, he could, but it doesn't occur to him. He doesn't like to imperil the whole "being outside" thing.
We walked to the Corner today for coffee and lunch with
nothingoth. Tom wore Ronan in the Deuter (Ronan didn't want to go on me). I carried the backpack and trekking poles (just in case Tom needed them). We got in about three miles, a bit more than I did yesterday.
Ronan fell asleep on the way home. I managed to extract him and remove his extra layers, keeping him asleep. I held him for a long nap while the grown-ups watched a netflix film we've had on the table for two weeks.
