You know, it would be nice if the cones and signs out front gave a reason (or a department responsible) for tomorrow's street closure (7a-5p). Fortunately, the nice lady at City Hall's customer service desk was happy to call around to get an answer.

Paving. Tomorrow. Oy. Oh, well. At least I can be expect to hear heavy machinery and asphalt grinding at 7am. It's easier to adjust when you know it's coming.

I don't think I mentioned, but we had an 18mo well baby visit for Ronan. He's 32" long, 21.1lbs, and 19" head circumference. He was weighed clothed, so he's probably not gained in six mo, but he's grown three inches! We had his iron tested, too, because the office will do a finger prick, unlike UVA's lab which failed to get a vein in four stabs back in May. His hemoglobin is perfectly normal, so we're not going to worry about lead. If his iron were low or even low normal, we'd have to go let them strap him down and torture him for a vial.

Anyhow, my kiddo is still on his curve, which is something like 15-20th percentile for height and 5th percentile for weight. He seems to be catching up to his head, too. Maybe he won't be a bobblehead, after all.

Ped also mentioned chicken pox is making the rounds, so we should keep an eye out for spots. He's also researching vitamin D options for winter, but was glad to hear that Ronan gets plenty of sunlight. (And so do I, so my breastmilk is not likely to be deficient. I tested great for D several months back.)

You could try a light box in the winter for D.

So glad Ronan is active and healthy.

They did not give you any warning about the day and time of the paving? That is just wrong. They should send a letter to each house on the street letting them know. *shakes head*

No warning. I have no clue if all of our neighbors are even in town, y',now?

You think that's bad? When they replaced water meters, they banged on the door at 7am to make us move our cars. Then sat outside in idling heavy machinery until 8am. At least we had warning signs for no parking this time.

While the street paving is not part of what I do as a Civil Engineer (I do bridges and buildings) it is a Civil Engineering task. All the agencies I coordinate with at least keep the local property owners informed about what they are doing in the area. *shakes head*

Remind me not to move there. I would be a pain in the ass at municipal meetings. Making sure they implement a better way to inform the people about upcoming projects.

Totally inconsiderate. Asphalt paving makes me ill, and I know I am not the only one with asphalt fume issues in this world. ugh!

That is one reason that most agencies require notification to the local property owners.

I can't exactly alter Ronan's sleep schedule on short notice, either. A week, yes. Less than 24 hours? Not so much. He napped from 5-7pm tonight after playing hard all day. He won't sleep until midnight and normally sleeps in until 9:30-10am. Oy. I predict quadruple shot lattés for mommy tomorrow.

We've been letting him stay up later so that the time change won't be so painful to the adults in the house. ;)

Hey, he and S. are on the same schedule! I am having difficulty shifting it earlier since [livejournal.com profile] ptor gets home from work so late these days and I have had multiple late-ish dance things recently (such as performing at 11pm on Monday night). You have a point about the time change, though...maybe I will just leave it alone and it will be less painful for me. :)

Sorry about the sleep disruption. That is really not cool.

Yeah. I'll get ill, too.

This means we'll have to leave for most of the day, which is sad for Ronan. He loves heavy equipment.
