Exhausted and headachy. Spring must be here. Stupid treesex.

Ronan has a nasty little cold, so I couldn't go for our daily walk. And while he's cranky, he's in no way low on energy . . . this made today rather fun . . . not.

I made part of dinner, Tom made the other part. We ate. Ronan flung spoons. Fun was had. I'm now taking another break, attempting to keep my head from exploding.

In other news, it's raining. While this is no doubt contributing to my malaise, I'm quite happy that the ground is getting a good dampening.

Those trees never quit. :P
(quick GF question if you're able - I'm trying to substitute for the flour in my zucchini bread recipe. What might be best to use? I don't have anything at the moment but I'm going out tomorrow to a decently stocked store.)

My standard sub for baking is 2.5 cups of whatever gluten-free flours/meals I have on hand, .5 cups of starch (corn, tapioca, potato), and 3 teaspoons xanthan gum. With all the eggs in zucchini bread, you probably won't need the xanthan gum.

I'd probably use almond meal, teff, brown rice, and sorghum. A blend of mochiko and sorghum works well for brownies and quick breads. I keep those all on hand, though. You could do it with sorghum or rice flour and a starch. Some folks do two parts flour/meal to one part starch.

The rain is making me GROGGY. I feel so sleepy these last few days. Ironically, I've been sleeping extra and still dragging. It started raining here on Friday night and has continued steadily since then.

It's hard to believe that Thursday I rode in a tank top. Friday we went to Duke Homestead and I was HOT. Since Saturday I can't get warm and the cold damp is making me achey.

Car was yellow from the tree bukkake. Am ready for it to be not spring.

I have an allergy question, too. Katie has been having a bum rash plus runniness off and on since we switched daycares. The only major dietary change is that the new daycare serves a lot more bread and crackers than the old one did. Would a wheat allergy cause these symptoms?

I hope the pollen runs away and you feel less icky.

Thanks

Any allergy can cause those symptoms, but so can teething . . . and new wipes, a different brand of diapers. Could any of those things be the culprit?

Do you guys serve wheat at home? If so, I can't see why the problem would be specific to the new daycare. I hope she feels better!

I love trees but not those blooming pears (I think that is the one). I blame them for my not being able to breath right! Damn treesex! Grrrrr

While they certainly do stink, Bradford pears are insect-pollinated. It's probably the pine, oak, birch, elm, cedar/juniper . . . and mold. Soon, the maple trees.
